The IRTA European Chapter was founded in 1996 when
many European barter companies met in Scotland for
the first time. Former IRTA Executive Director
and Hall of Fame member, Paul Suplizio realized the
importance for IRTA representation in Europe.

Since 1996 IRTA Europe has held several annual
meetings all throughout the continent including: Belgium,
England, France, Germany, Iceland, Italy, the Netherlands,
Poland, Scotland, Slovakia and Turkey. These meetings
allow European barter companies to share their
successes and challenges, form alliances and create
standards by which they agree to maintain all in
accordance to the IRTA Code of Ethics.
